There is a large population of "Working Poor" people in our community. Many work multiple part-time jobs, and still cannot afford to rent an apartment! Often entire families live out of the only shelter they own which is their car. Unfortunately, most neighborhoods do not find it acceptable to have random cars parked on their streets at night. With no restrooms, and no safe place for children, it can be a real problem. Cities are having a hard time accommodating the needs of so many, so while government tries to find a solution,  Jewish Family Services has made available guarded parking lots, where the working poor with vehicles can safely park to sleep overnight. They rely upon volunteers to assist with bringing meals to people who are struggling to make ends meet every day! Our club has begun serving dinners and the response has been so rewarding!

From the staff of JFS : "We’ve found that some of our best outreach to new dinner groups comes from our current volunteers, so we also encourage you to share your experience and the below information on how to volunteer with your family, friends, or other community groups who might be interested in hosting a dinner. We can accomplish so much more together !  "  www.jfssd.org/safeparkingprogramapp
