For the second time in a year, the La Mesa Sunrise Rotary Club was able to provide funding and volunteer assistance to help young people realize the dream of moving into a place to call home.
Through the Just in Time for Foster Youth (JIT) "My First Home" program, six young people chose furniture, cooking supplies, bedding, and other household items on March 8, 2025.
More than a dozen Club members and friends joined JIT staff and volunteers to assist with gathering the items, loading them into cars and trucks, and unloading them at their final destinations throughout San Diego County.
JIT's life-changing mission is to help young people who have spent time in the foster care system to learn the skills and gain the experience needed to survive and thrive in the adult world.
JIT programs support participants to pursue higher education, gain career technical skills, and secure employment, all while navigating the many challenges of living independently. It was so inspiring to see this important work in action and support Just in Time for Foster Youth!
